Why *Just* Reading More Books is NOT enough.

Reading is a joy

Good day.

You've read the title, now you may be a little provoked and I can explain in this post, why this is a good notion for me, and definitely for you. Why do we just read anyway? Most reasons would be is that it is an enjoyable hobby or to gain knowledge/skills from reading, and the latter is what I want to account for in my writing today.

The Law of I/O

As you are knowledgeable, most things in life work on a binary system, that is either opposites, symmetries, polarities, on and off state, and so on. To put simply in the modern context, as people we exchange one thing for another is many ways, money for a service, energy for exercise, time to learn, etc. As such, our world works wonderfully almost as if it seems balanced, as this is how our universe works. Putting this in context, it can be clearly explained why just reading more books is not enough.

As kids/toddlers, we interpreted what our parents/family said out of their mouths, slowly but surely and one voice imitation at a time. Eventually, we got to a point where we could say a short sentence, albeit not fully eloquently, but after months of repeating the same imitation structure and being surrounded by words of our family we could make sense of the world around us using words. The beneficial part to us all was us growing up to know the English language (or your native language) after a few years, allowing us to communicate between our elders after which it permit us the privilege and desire to be educated to know the fascinating world of ours we know and love today. The key part in that phenomena is the exchange part, using this as the integral message, you may understand where I'm now coming from using the message that is the title.

You have to share or use what you have read

The reason for this is that you will slightly forget what you have read overtime, which leads you to having your time lost in the end. A counter argument for my statement may be that you may easily remember the context of what you have read after you have glanced at the indifferent writing after a while and that may be true, but my main argument is that if you export that what you have read in some manner, it will be more of a benefit that you intercepting that knowledge and having it be a passive improvement to your intellect.

So what are the easy remedies? Well, you could talk to a friend about the book you've read and share what you've learnt from it, or write to yourself in a journal how interesting it was, or make a YouTube video about it, or write a blog! Heck, that last example is why I convinced myself to start my own blog, and part due to reason was encountering the existence of bearblog.dev. Using this strategy, you will better enhance your vocabulary, your analytical thinking skills, and your knowledge in general, over it just being passive if you've just read the material. It makes you a better person too because sharing makes you more altruistic, and that is what our world smiles upon!

Thank you for reading! Hope you've gained something and will share use it!
